We are grateful to be part of the music journey of thousands of students across Auckland, from age 5 to 75 have already chosen to learn an instrument with Rudd School Of Rock since 2005. Some of our students have been with us for several years. Many have started as complete beginners, some have come to us after failed attempts to learn music elsewhere. Many are now on their way to doing something great with their music. We thank our students below for sharing words about their experience with us.
"Our son has just completed his first term of singing lessons with Rudd School of Rock and and has thoroughly enjoyed it. He has never had lessons before but loves to sing and his teacher has really helped his singing improve as well as his confidence. She has a great way with children, is very patient and kind and plans the lessons around the ability and interests of the individual student. She is very inspiring, and a lovely young lady."

"My son has been having lessons with Rudd School of Rock for a couple of years now. During that time he has become a much more confident boy. Fraser really enjoys the lessons especially as his teacher goes out of his way to find songs/music that Fraser is keen to learn."

"Rudd School of Rock taught my daughter guitar from when she was a complete beginner. Her teacher was very patient with explaining the chords and how to read the music. He made the lessons relaxing and fun while still focusing on improving her skills at every lesson. My daughter learned to play quickly and well under his guidance. I would recommend Rudd School of Rock to anyone who is looking for somewhere for their children to learn the guitar." J Hill

"I was fortunate to have learned guitar with Rudd School of Rock for three years. My teacher is an exceptionally talented and knowledgeable musician who is able to motivate students with his positive approach towards teaching. He is organised, patient, helpful and a generally great guy. He not only teaches you songs of specific genres which you enjoy, but exposes you to a range of music which I feel is important when beginning to learn guitar. He explains everything clearly and positively encourages you if you do not pick something up straight away. He gave me the confidence to play guitar on stage in my school’s Rock Band and also in public through busking. I have recommended Rudd School of Rock to others and would not hesitate to do so again." "I’ve been playing basic chord type guitar for a long time – more folk and sing-along than anything else – but since forming a covers band with a few friends a few years ago, I wanted to learn more lead guitar style. I was recommended to talk to Peter Rudd of Rudd School of Rock, and I must admit I was a little daunted when checking out his website and you-tube clips of his play. I wasn’t in his league at all! But the year or more I have been taking weekly lessons with Peter have been a very enjoyable part of the week, and in looking back to the start of this time, I realise that I have achieved quite a lot of new skills and understanding of the guitar – besides having a friendly new go-to in the music world. Peter is very flexible in his approach to teaching, and can adapt to whatever is required. We have learned some standard practice pieces and warm-ups, some lead licks, and always some challenging new pieces. We don’t linger if the pieces don’t resonate with me, but there is always encouragement to try something new. Having a weekly lesson looming also concentrates the mind (and fingers!) to practice, as Peter doesn’t play for me, and sadly I can’t use his fingers…….Peter’s engaging and warm personality, plus his superb ear and guitar skill level makes each lesson enjoyable. From my experience, I’m sure that Peter can help prospective pupils at any level." M Hope

"I had been playing guitar for over 30 years and I decided to take private lessons for the first time. I chose to do that with Rudd School of Rock. My teacher was great. He would bring lyrics and guitar tabs for any song I wanted to learn, and work on them straight away. I have had a recording session with Rudd School of Rock, where I've been recorded playing two tracks of guitar and two tracks of vocals, for a Snow Patrol cover song. It was lots of fun. I used that demo CD to get into a band for the first time; and have been with the band for the past five years. I've also put my son through lessons with Rudd School of Rock."
