Auckland's coolest music school, Rudd School of Rock offers expert tuition and coaching in Guitar (Acoustic, Electric and Bass), Drums, Keyboard, Piano, and Singing/Vocals.  We have teaching locations in Central Auckland, Eastern Bays, East Auckland, and North Shore.

Established in 2005, thousands of young and not so young students from age 5 to 75 have chosen Rudd School of Rock to help them on their music journey. We are the music school of choice for those who are serious about learning a musical instrument, whether for fun or to develop lifetime music skills and a potential career in music.

Rudd School of Rock’s teachers are all exceptional and accomplished real musicians with current real-world music industry experience who know how to bring out the music star in you. Our Philosophy

Director Peter J Rudd, an internationally-acclaimed NZ musician with almost 30 years of experience as a performer/songwriter/music executive founded Rudd School of Rock in 2005 with the goal of bringing to Auckland a modern music school that does much more than just teach people how to play an instrument.

Rudd School of Rock has a unique philosophy. We teach to inspire true musicianship, encourage a lifelong love of music, and lay firm foundations for budding music performers and creators of tomorrow.

We don't just teach you to play and instrument and read music. We aim to teach you to master the techniques that will make you a top guitarist, singer, keyboard player or drummer.  And we teach you to understand the inner workings of music so you have the foundation knowledge required to create your own original songs and signature style. 

We also provide unique performance opportunities to allow you to demonstrate your growing confidence as a musician. 

And although "Rock" is in our name, we are not just limited to teaching Rock music! Our music lessons cover techniques and styles across a range of music genres – rock, pop, jazz, country, classical and blues covering the works of modern artists and past legends. We ensure all students build solid musical foundations to become well-rounded musicians.

How can you become one of the best, unless you learn from one of the best?  Our specialist music teachers are among the most inspiring music teachers you will find in the world.  We are proud to say that we are the only music school in NZ to have on our teaching team only teachers who are accomplished musicians in their own right with real world music industry experience.  Each one of our our teachers is currently active on the NZ and overseas music scene as a performer, recording artist, songwriter, or music engineer. All of them are masters of their art. They are absolutely passionate about music and the instruments they teach and possess a wealth of knowledge to share with their students.

While many schools offer group lessons of a one-size-fits-all nature, we firmly believe that the most effective way of learning a musical instrument is through customised individual tuition. All our music lessons are conducted on a one student to one teacher basis, so that the focus of your weekly music lesson is on developing YOU as a musician, and nobody else.  Lessons are tailored to fit your level of experience, rate of progress and musical preferences.  We firmly believe that individual and customised lessons are the only true method for learning to master a musical instrument and developing your signature sound and style. Don’t settle for sub-standard group lessons that produce “cookie cutter” musicians.
